Natural Fibre-Welding Technology

Advanced Biofibre Technologies (ABT) utilizes cutting-edge technology to create nonwoven fabrics from natural fibers such as hemp, wheat, and flax for PPE applications. These eco-friendly fabrics are truly compostable and can be engineered to have a variety of properties for PPE including filtration, washability, different strengths and thicknesses, waterproofness, and antimicrobial properties. ABT's technology enables the use of these natural fibers in existing manufacturing machinery, making sustainable textile production more accessible and cost-effective

About Advanced Biofibre Technologies

Advanced Biofibre Technologies was co-founded by Dr. Morgan Wyatt and Canadian-based textile manufacturer, Solidwear Enterprises. With Dr. Wyatt's expertise in natural materials and compostable products, and Solidwear's 35 years of experience in specialized manufacturing, ABT specializes in the development and production of eco-friendly nonwoven fabrics made from natural fibers such as hemp, wheat, and flax for the medical industry and beyond.

Utilizing ABT's natural fiber-welding technology, Solidwear is able to produce truly compostable fabrics that can be broken down by natural processes without leaving harmful residues. These fabrics can be engineered to have a variety of properties including filtration, washability, different strengths and thicknesses, waterproofness, and antimicrobial properties and can be used in existing manufacturing machinery, including ultrasonic welding for seam creation. Samples produced using this technology include hospital gowns, face masks, and hospital curtains to medical grade standards.

Dr. Wyatt, a PhD in Chemical Biology, has published numerous high-impact papers across disciplines and has a deep understanding of natural materials and their potential uses. He is also the founder of Greenlid, a leading supplier of truly compostable tableware products and appeared on the Canadian television show Dragon's Den, where he received investment from investors Dave Chilton and Arlene Dickinson. Dr. Wyatt is also a recipient of the Manning Innovation award, a leading award in Canada, and has over 50 patents worldwide. He is dedicated to deploying innovative, environmentally friendly solutions into existing infrastructure in order to avoid added costs and make transitioning to eco-friendly alternatives easier for businesses and consumers.

Solidwear, on the other hand, with expertise and strong roots in the manufacturing industry, has designed and produced thousands face masks as well as manufactured millions of medical grade hospital gowns. With our skilled workforce and robust infrastructure, we are uniquely positioned above other suppliers to immediately meet the needs and quality standards required for government agencies and internationally recognized high-end brands. We are committed to serving the communities where we live and work during and using the power of our resources to address the national need for a reliable supply chain.

With ABT, the team continues to push the boundaries of sustainable textile production and offer a versatile solution to customers.
